EcoMeter by Envirospeak Media
EcoMeter collects and organizes green product ratings and information from across the web into a simplified meta-score that helps consumers make easy and informed decisions on what green products to purchase.
In North America, 87% of consumers care about the environmental impact of the products they buy; however, only 33% actually purchase eco-friendly products. Why is there such a disconnect between consumer intention and action when it comes to buying green? Simply put, the consumer market place for green goods is filled with fragmented information, misleading ecolabels, and "green washed" marketing campaigns. There is simply too much information, scattered across too many sources, making it difficult to find trustworthy and useful information to make a sustainable purchase decision.
EcoMeter solves this problem by providing consumers with direct access to a comprehensive database of product ratings and reviews. The EcoMeter database aggregates data from more than 50 different online sources, to deliver a comprehensive green rating for more than 350,000 consumer products. EcoMeter goes with you regardless of where you shop to deliver real-time environmental product ratings before you buy. The environmental rating that EcoMeter delivers is the result of a complex algorithm that analyzes multiple data sources across the dimensions (corporate sustainability reports, product ratings and consumer reviews) to calculate an environmental meta score that is presented free of charge to the consumer at the point of sale.
EcoMeter is scheduled for release in July 2011. If you'd
